PSO to sell ethanol mixed petrol

ISLAMABD: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) will start the commercial sale of 10 per cent ethanol mixed petrol or E-10 from Sunday at 20 outlets in Sindh.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has notified the price of E-10 gasoline at Rs62.61 per litre which is Rs2.50 per litre less than regular petrol.

The price also includes Rs10.88 per litre Petroleum Levy on direct sale of E-10 to consumers.
Commercial sales will start at 16 outlets in Karachi, two in Hyderabad and one each in Larkana and Nawabshah.

Launching of E-10 has failed to take off in Punjab, Balochistan and the NWFP due to dispute between the provincial governments and the ministry of petroleum over local taxes on ethanol.

PSO is the largest Oil Marketing Company (OMC) in Pakistan, accounting for almost half of all the petrol sales in the country.

The average monthly petrol sale in Pakistan is around 140,000 tons and PSO contributes to around 72,000 tons.—DawnNews
