Khanani, Kalia acquitted in PEC Ordinance case
KARACHI: Javed Khanani, Haneef Kalia and Munaf Kalia were acquitted in a case filed under the provisional electronic crimes ordinance by judicial magistrate Dr. Shabana Waheed in Karachi on Monday.
During court proceedings, the defendant's lawyers said that so far not a single shred of evidence had been presented in court by Federal Investigation Authority officials.
They also argued that the PEC Ordinance had expired when this case was registered citing clauses of that law.
After recording the arguments of the defence attorneys, the judge announced the verdict in their favour. However, all three accused will remain in custody as they face other charges in banking court and Sindh High Court.
