HP launches filters to block non-business applications

KARACHI: Hewlett-Packard has introduced security system that would allow organisations to control the recreational use of the Internet during working hours.

The employers would now be able to prevent their workers from using social networking, gaming, and other entertainment applications on the Internet.

The HP Application Digital Vaccine Service (AppDV) would ensure optimum use of the network strength for business and professional use while limiting non-critical traffic on the web connections.

With AppDV, organisations can easily block or limit usage of non-business applications to ensure optimum performance of business-critical systems.

HP by introducing the AppDV has added application control functionality to its existing security offerings, a press statement said on Wednesday.

The AppDV from HP TippingPoint DVLabs, enables clients to keep business systems available and running at peak performance by limiting non-critical network traffic and decreasing the risk of downtime from security threats.
