KESC reduces power outages for residential areas

KESC has announced the reduction in the duration of power cuts in the residential areas of Karachi.

A KESC spokesperson on Tuesday announced a reduction in the duration of power cuts after receiving 80 mega watts of power supply from Kanupp Nuclear power plant.

The duration of power outages will vary from seven to five hours in different areas. Industrial areas, however, continue to experience up to 12 hours of power cuts.

Meanwhile, the situation in Sukkur and interior Sindh is not different where load shedding continues.
In a letter addressed to the city's residents, the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation's (KESC) CEO Tabish Gauhar blamed the power crisis on improper distribution and allocation of gas supplies to the company.

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) yesterday apologised to its customers, including KESC. Dr Faizullah Abbasi, the Managing Director of SSGC said that the shortfall of natural gas was unprecedented this year while the closure of gas fields for maintenance was necessary to ensure smooth supply of gas for the coming winter.
