US to transfer funds next month: Patterson

ISLAMABAD: United States Ambassador Anne W. Patterson said on Wednesday Pakistan’s outstanding amount from the Coalition Support Fund (CSF) was $1.1 billon, of which $350 million would be transferred to Pakistani government’s bank account in New York in December.

Patterson was briefing journalists on her efforts to attract US investments in Pakistan.
The ambassador acknowledged that the amount to be reimbursed was low. She was unable to give a schedule for the release of the remaining amount from the fund, admitting that there were misunderstandings on both sides over the issue.
She said there was a need to make the process transparent. Pakistan receives payments from the CSF against the money spent on fighting terrorism.
Apart from the payments from the CSF, the ambassador said, the US would give $175 million to Pakistan in December for budgetary support.
The amount would be transferred to the bank account, she said, adding that the money was meant for the HEC, BISP and the internally displaced persons.
