Indus Motor Company turns 20

KARACHI: Indus Motor Company, established on Dec 17, 1989, commemorated its 20th anniversary in a small internal function, says a press release.

The IMC had started its journey with only 7 people. In December 2009, after 20 years of incorporation, it has become one of the leading auto manufacturers in Pakistan, employing over 2,000 people.

The release says IMC, a joint venture of the House of Habib, Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Tsusho Corporation, has made contribution to the overall growth and development of the auto industry through technology transfer, localisation, human resource development, 3S dealership network and support to the auto vendor industry.

It says IMC has contributed over Rs100 billion over the last 20 years to the national exchequer and in FY09 alone contributed more than Rs14.2 million.

The company through its corporate social responsibility programme has made a positive impact on the society focusing on areas of road safety, education, health & community development, environment, response to natural calamities, sports, etc. It allocates 1 per cent of profit before tax each year for CSR initiatives.
