KARACHI: Japan will disburse development assistance worth $1 billion to Pakistan. The amount was pledged at the Tokyo Donors’ Conference.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Chihiro Atsumi, who is also the chief patron of Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF).
He was speaking at the second annual general meeting of the PJBF here on Monday evening. The envoy praised the role of the PJBF, and said it successfully held the fifth Pak-Japan joint business dialogue in Tokyo in May.
He also referred to the new Japanese Foreign Minister Okada’s visit to Pakistan in October.
Following his visit, the government of Japan announced in November that it would make all possible efforts to swiftly disburse $1 billion that Japan pledged at the Tokyo donors conference.
“Our new government continues to show the same commitment in supporting Pakistan as in the past”, the envoy said, adding that the stability of Pakistan is very important for the region and the international community as well.
