Pakistan offers variety of economic zones to Japanese

TOKYO: Pakistan has offered a variety of economic zones to attract Japanese investment depending on the type of their preferred sector and timeframe of investment.

Economic Minister at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo Iftikhar Babar said speaking at a seminar organised on Pakistan’s proposed Japanese Special Economic Zone (JSEZ) by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (MEIT) and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday.

Briefing the media, Babar said that at the conference he gave detailed and comprehensive presentation on JSEZ supported with updated data and site maps. The participants were informed about the government of Pakistan’s attractive investment package consisting of various facilities, concessions and tax exemptions.

They were briefed in detail about the variety of economic zones which have been offered by the government to attract Japanese investment.

A large number of attendees including presidents and CEOs of companies, representatives of trading houses, members of chambers of commerce and industry of Kansai region, educational, research institutions and government departments attended the one-day seminar.

The participants praised the economic friendly policies of the government and expressed their keenness in establishment of various projects to help contribute to the economic progress of Pakistan.
